Machine Tool Engineer & Electrician - What does the job involve?
The main purpose of the position is to maintain all manufacturing plant, equipment and facilities in good working order. Improve equipment reliability by increasing the mean time between failure (MTBF) while reducing the mean time to repair (MTTR). The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the sites business goals and objectives.
Hours of work: Day Shift - 39 hours per week, usually working, Monday to Thursday 6.45am to 3.30pm and Friday 7.00am to 1.00pm with 30-minute break for lunch.
Machine Tool Engineer & Electrician - What will my responsibilities include?
- Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner.
- Perform diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facilitys equipment.
- Fitting new parts and carrying out quality/performance inspections thereafter.
- Fixing faults or making recommendations for replacements across Senior/LPEs machine tools.
- Plan / prioritize workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time.
- Keeping Manufacturing Team informed of progress during breakdown, Plant Maintenance.
- Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance schedules (PPM).
- Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required.
- Fill in job tickets on completion of work.
- Report breakdown root cause, equipment faults and concerns to management.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and Senior/LPEs Golden Rules.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
Machine Tool Engineer & Electrician - What key skills and experience do I need?
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential)
- A Minimum of 3 years experience working within either Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance.
- Proven experience in fault finding and repair of CNC Machine tools.
- Analytical skills with an attitude for hands on work.
- Able to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Able to read equipment manuals and mechanical/electrical drawings.
- Logical in approach and application.
- Ability to manufacture spare parts as required (Simple bracketry, gaskets etc) using lathes, milling machines, welding equipment (Desirable)
- Experience in working with Mazak, Heidenhain control systems (Desirable)
- Operate Forklift Truck and Elevated Working Platforms (Desirable)
- Able to produce Mechanical sketches or drawings for repairs (Desirable)
Machine Tool Engineer & Electrician - What qualifications should I have?
- Minimum of Level 2 Certificate in an Engineering or equivalent Mechanical / Electrical discipline.
- Level 3 Certificate in Engineering Maintenance (Desirable)
- Security Clearance (Desirable)
